Finally...time to update!

The "Marriage and the Family" (http://marriageandthefamily.com) seminar is over, my Proverbs study is finished, our Chicago delivery is behind us and the Gospel Express
(http://gospelexpressonline.org/) Board meeting Tryon, N.C. is over, it's an absolutly perfect Sunday afternoon, one nap is in the books and number of you have been hinting
that it's time to update, so here goes!

First I'm going to let you all (ya'll for you southerners) in, on the view from my windows. The Genza Bottom! ("goose bottom" for you non german speakers). God has allowed
us this 26 acre plot north of Walnut Creek to use as our home until we get to move to our final home with Him! The photo below is the valley known locally as the Genza Bottom.
In the upper right skyline you can see the Amish Flea Market and to the left above the three silos is the Sugarcreek water tower. They are about 7 miles apart. This photo was taken
before it "greened up" it's much prettier now.

Dutch Wonderland
Janice and I went to Lancaster, PA to stay with Patrick & Mary June's (http://www.xanga.com/maryjunemiller) children, Portia, Benjamin & William while they went
to South Carolina for a wedding. Time with the grandchildren is always precious but this time we had them all to ourselves! Saturdays we spent the day at Dutch Wonderland
in Lancaster. We all had a great time and made a lot of memories.

GEET Weekend

I’m only a couple weeks behind here but I wanted to do a post on the Gospel Express Annual Meeting/Auction in Lancaster, PA. The annual meeting is always a highlight. It not only involves the Executive Board but the advisory board, chaplains, as well as team members and ministry personel.

Heifer Auction
We arrived in the area on Thursday evening in time for most of the heifer auction. The proceeds all go for the Bible study ministry. This year topped all previous heifer auctions bringing in excess of $90,000, Praise the Lord! We have seen this branch of ministry really prosper.

Annual Meeting
The meeting on Friday was filled with praise reports. It was great to hear from chaplains on the effects of prison ministry as well as the report from Melvin & Amy Kuepfer on the “Bondage To Freedom” seminars on lives that are changed as a result of granting forgiveness to those who’ve “trespassed” against us.

Auction
This is always a great time of fellowshipping. We get to touch base with a lot of people we may hardly see any other time. Of course we always have a triple reason for wanting to go to Lancaster because of our son Patrick, my brother Ervin and their families.

Following is a collage of some of the photos we took during the weekend.

It's Our Anniversary!

When I was 12 years old I was absolutley smitten with a girl I saw at church. She was the stuff dreams are made of. As bad as I wanted her, never in my wildest dreams did I seriously think I'd have a chance at her. To make a long story short, I married her 32 years ago today. I still can hardly believe I pulled it off.

Miller, Marvin

We didn't do anything too spectacular to celebrate. We started out by eating lunch at "The Granary" in thePine Tree Barn, something we've wanted to do for some time.

After that we went shopping at Prime Outlets in Lodi.

We ate dinner at Applebees then finished it off with Coldstone1 at Coldstonewooster

Then we rendezvoused with some of our Gospel Express family, Nate & Vivian Stoltzfus and children, Trish, Austin and Jennifer at Java Jo's in Berlin for some great fellowship. They're here on a "hiefer hunt" for the Gospel Express heifer auction in Lancaster, PA next Thursday.

Our Saturday (yesterday)

On Friday evening we babysat Taras while Preston and Rachel attended Firman & Rhonda's wedding. They spent the night and most of Saturday with us. As always, we had a barrel of fun.

Here Taras expresses "shock and awe" at his grandma's cookies

Preston spent a good part of the day "detailing" the Focus.....

....while I did some drywalling. Patrick recently affirmed "something is indeed wrong" with me because I really enjoy doing it

IMGP0871

Here are the results! Preston did a splendid job! Why did he do it? I'll tell you in my next post.

We all went to Red_lobster_logo for supper.

Laura Schlesinger says " I am my kid's mom"

I present ....... my grandkid's grandma! Also known as "Pretty Grandma". I feature her because it's her birthday! She's celebrating the 3rd anniversary of her 49th birthday! I am so proud of her. As you can see, she looks as good or better as she did at 16. Don't you agree?
